Tips to Eat Healthy When Eating Out

It can get pretty hard eating right and healthy while not being at home, you need to learn and find healthy options when you go and eat outside. Here are some of the tips I gathered for you together.

 

(1) Never go hungry to a restaurant, you are more likely to make unhealthy choices when you are hungry and end up overeating.

(2) Be familiar with the menu before you go. Choosing your food before you arrive makes it easier to avoid bad snap decisions you might regret later.

(3) Drinking water, sparkling water, or an unsweetened fresh brewed iced tea with your meal can greatly reduce your intake of calories. Replacing sugary high-calorie drinks and artificial sweeteners is a big step in becoming healthy.

(4) Stay away from foods that are described on the menu as pan-fried, fried, crispy, crunchy, or sautéed as they will usually contain more fat and more calories. Choose steamed, grilled, roasted, or poached when possible.

(5) If you are going to a restaurant where you know the portions are huge, try ordering two appetizers instead of the main course.

(6) Eating slow helps you to eat less. It can also make you feel full more quickly. If you begin to eat too quickly, take some deep breaths. This will help you refocus and get back on track.

(7) Always ask for sauces and dressings on the side since many times these add lots of calories to your meal.

(8) Always choose fresh whole foods, gluten-free options, and organic when it’s possible. This ensures your getting good nutrients.
